Reem was a Banting Postdoctoral Fellow with FACT and the Rights and Resources Initiative. Using a multi-level forest governance lens, her research interests focus on policies and institutions that affect community-based and small-scale forest management, as a tool for poverty alleviation and sustainable landscapes, primarily in developing countries. During her postdoc, she conducted research on advancing small-scale forestry under REDD and FLEGT, legitimacy and representation in a multi-level forest governance context, the evolving role of forest producer associations, and public perceptions of forest adaptation strategies to climate change. Reem is currently a Research Fellow at International Forestry Resources and Institutions (IFRI) at the University of Michigan.
